---- Our Volunteers ----

The volunteers are very valuable to us and we need to be sure to take care of you. What we do, we serve approximately 350 households per week.  Yep, it's a lot of work but it can be fun too.
We have a lot of jobs.  We have grocer pickups, truck unloading, prep for Wednesday events, working Wednesday event and clean up.

With the COVID 19 issues, here are some guidelines.
  • We request that we wear gloves when working with the food.
  • Be aware of Sauk County's health guidelines
When it is warm, taking breaks and drinking water are a must.
One of the hardest, but very rewarding jobs is unloading trucks.  Here are some general details.
Unloading trucks 
  • pallets that we need to unload we carry these items into the building or into the cooler and stack items securely.
  • Second Harvest truck - prepare for Wednesday evenings event.
"Unloading" usually requires lifting from 6-60 pounds repeatedly.
Other tasks include:
  • Pick up food from local Stores in Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells then weighing and put away
  • Arrange cooler/freezer
  • Fill bags for giveaway
  • Sort and bag food items
  • Help with distribution
  • Cleaning
